Richard Zehr

Richard Zehr, MA, R.Psych

Richard Zehr is a clinical psychologist registered with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology. He has a Masters in School Psychology from Mount Saint Vincent University after obtaining an undergraduate degree with Honors in Psychology from Dalhousie University. Richard has 40 years of experience in the health care system, first as a respiratory therapist, then working as a clinical psychologist for over 30 years. He has experience working with diverse populations across the life span including individuals with mental health difficulties, developmental delay and dementia.

Richard initially trained and practiced applied behaviour analysis while a staff psychologist at a rehabilitation centre. Since then, for the last 16 years he has received extensive training in and practiced Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) at the Centre for Emotions and Health and the Integrated Chronic Care Service, with the Nova Scotia Health Authority. He provided psychological assessment and therapy for the full range of mental health difficulties and has specialist skills working with depression, medically unexplained physical symptoms, multiple chemical sensitivities, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.

Richard has also been working in private practice providing individual psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, and medically unexplained symptoms. He has many years of experience working with first responders, Canadian Armed Forces members and veterans.
